This high-precision rectal thermometer is designed to easily and reliably measure the body temperature of rats, mice, and other laboratory animals. Easy to use and economical, it provides a suitable solution for the physiological monitoring of animals in preclinical research.
Compatible with several models of rectal probes for laboratory animals, it allows adapting the measurement to the animal's size and species: rat, mouse, neonatal mouse, but also rabbit, dog, or cattle with the appropriate probe.
The wide measuring range of -30 to +50 °C meets numerous experimental applications.
5 probes suitable for rats and mice
The thermometer can be used with five probe models to adapt to different animal sizes:
- Rigid rectal probe for rats with spherical tip – Ø 3 mm
- Rigid rectal probe for mice with spherical tip – Ø 1.6 mm
- Flexible rectal probe for rats and mice – Ø 1 mm
- Flexible rectal probe for very small animals and neonatal mice – Ø 0.6 mm
- Flexible implantable probe (supplied with an 18 G needle) – Ø 0.64 mm, for rectal measurements in small animals, tissue measurements, and experimental applications (chemical resistant)
The flexible probes offer particularly suitable use for small animals and allow measurements to be carried out more gently, limiting the risk of injury during insertion.
Dimensions of rigid rectal probes
The rigid probes with a spherical tip are available in two diameters to suit rats and mice.
Probe for rabbit, dog, and other animals
An oral probe is also available for larger animals. It can notably be used to measure temperature in rabbits, dogs, or cattle.
This range of probes thus allows the use of the same thermometer for different species and applications of body temperature monitoring in the laboratory.
