Tachometer for wheel of activity
Compatible with telemetry systems.
(Installation example for rat)
A living cage and running wheel assembly permitting the recording of spontaneous motor activity and circadian rhythms of rodents over long time periods, even their entire lifespans. It also allows the study of inactivity in laboratory rodents.
Purpose
We have developed a device that adapts to a standard cage. Thus, an animal (rat or mouse) remains in its living area and has free access to the wheel. The equipment measures turn number in the long-term, even over the entire lifespan of the animal.
These sets of cages allow the measurement of activity variations and their timing over extended periods, making the system particularly useful for:
- Ageing studies,
- Pharmacology (measurements before and after treatment), anxiety and depression
- Temporal screening in all developmental models (prenatal and postnatal environments, inducible KB, defects, etc.).
